How To Get Stronger With a Severe Disability!
Having a disability sucks A** right? Well, it sure does because I, myself, have a very debilitating condition called osteogenesis imperfecta. I've been wheelchair bounded since I attended kindergarten, and ever since til today, I'm still bound to a wheelchair. Being immobile sucks because it causes a lot of health issues. For today's discussion, I'm going to explain to y'all how to become stronger while enduring your disability.
You shouldn't flee from your disability, take it as what it is, and combat the obstacles. Sure, it's hard and annoying and can be depressing, but life is life; life isn't perfect nor isn't humans nor other species. Anyways, you must have a strong mental connection to combat anything that is negative or to proceed with your life - to live life happily.
I'm going to tell you people, how to become strong the easy way for you disabled people out there.
I know what it takes to become stronger because I've encountered so many broken bones that I had to reside in my bed for a couple of weeks; I've had so many surgeries that I had to be bounded to my bed for a couple of weeks to recover. I've been overweight, I've been underweight - I've been so weak and fragile - not because of my disability but because I've neglected the importance of taking self-care. Self-care must be prioritized on a daily. It is easy to forget about our health and fall into a trap that will be very hard to come out of. If you control your life the proper way TODAY, it'll be much easier to live life with fewer complications.

-- Tips for becoming Stronger for disabled people --
1) Focus on Healthy Foods!
The foods we eat today are fulfilled with additives and junk nutrients, which does not benefit the body or nourishes the body in a positive manner, so I highly recommend everyone, even non-disabled people, to focus on healthy eating! Avoid ans refrain from eating those processed junk foods, like snacks, chips, frozen foods, microwavable foods, and fast foods. They're all harmful for your body. Sure, some canned/frozen and microwavable foods can be good, depending on the brand, but I recommend eating whole foods; foods that are organic and aren't modified with junk nutrients. Whole foods and organic foods contain all of its original nutrient context, which will help benefit and nourish your body, bones, muscles, and joints in a better and positive manner. Junk food can cause inflammation within the body, which will cause issues such as pains, decreased bone and muscle strength and the durability of the bones and muscles; inflammation within the organs, tissues, muscles, joints, and much more. It i very important for everyone to consume healthy foods on the daily. By consuming healthy foods, you combat the toxcins and the negative elements within our bodies and the foods we consume.
Keynotes: Healthy food is the way to go. Junk foods harm the body and do not benefit the body.
2) Focus On A Positive Mindset.
People who are always depressed/sad, etc aren't in the healthiest condition. Mental health, if neglected, can really affect you in a damaging way. If you're constantly depressed or aren't living a healthy lifestyle, you must change that. Your mind is a powerful tool, and that must be addressed on the daily basis. By having a strong mindset, you can overcome depression and other obstacles, and thus will give you more and better confidence and self-esteem which will make your life much easier to cope with! Start doing the things you love, communicate with your loved ones, your friends, and embrace new talk with strangers - meet new people, go outside of your realm and experience life. Life is too short to be dwelling on the sad parts of life. Everyone has their sad moments and situations in life. Take life and hit a home run.
3) Focus On Exercising / Stretching/mobility work.
For disabled people, it is much harder to get exercise because of their limitations, however, that shouldn't stop you from trying. Yes, I know there are many different disability cases out there and the severities of them, but I know some of y'all can move your arms and legs, and if you can, at least you're being somewhat active; that is better than not moving around. As I mentioned earlier, being immobile causes a lot of health issues down the road.
Exercising will help promote and develop strong bones, muscles and mind. Moving your body around, lifting something heavy, or doing yoga can help strengthen your body. By moving your body around, you're promoting blood flow, which will help nourish your body resulting in a better and healthier body. Any exercise will help, any yoga routines will help. This will help relieve tension, tight muscles, muscle knots, loss of blood flow, and much more. Exercising, yoga, being active is key.
Some tips: Using resistance bands are ideal for disabled/weak/elderly people. Using weighted ankle band/ wrist bands are also helpful to develop strength.
Also, doing stretches is very helpful. This can be tied in with your exercise/yoga routines. By stretching, you're relieving tight muscles, improving blood flow, you're making your bones, muscles, and joints become active, which will help strengthen your body. So if you're sitting, standing, or laying all day long, make sure you stretch throughout the day. Have assistance if needed.
Massages are also ideal as well. Similar to stretching, massages can help relieve tight muscles, tension, and can help improve blood flow.
In addition, there are many ways to get in a workout with ease. For example, there are many rehabilitation centers that have "Pools" or therapeutic pools for disabled people. By submerging your body in water, it is much easier to move around FREELY without any type of pain or discomfort. I use to attend therapy pools until I no longer needed it, but I should however continue using a pool because it does really benefit the body in a HUGE WAY.
4) Stay Consistent, stay strong, Be happy, and Live Fun.
Life shouldn't be taken too seriously. Have fun, be happy but yet stay strong on your goals. You must stay consistent with proper eating, exercising, stretching, etc. Without strong willpower, you'll fail yourself, you'll neglect yourself and that'll lead to many health complications. Life is tough for everyone but that doesn't mean you should stop caring for yourself. Battle through the obstacles, and you'll thank yourself later down the road.
CONCLUSION: To Short Didn't read! *TLDR*
1) Eat healthily. *Vegetables, fruits, healthy sources of proteins, fats and carbs, nuts, seeds, berries, etc)
2) Stop Eating junk food that does not benefit or nourishes your body! (Chips, candy, sodas, etc)
