Around 7 million tons of coffee is consumed globally every year.

"It could be that coffee, or its effective ingredients could be integrated into a healthy diet strategy to reduce the burden of chronic conditions related to the obesity epidemic."

Scientists from the University of Nottingham have discovered that drinking a cup of coffee can stimulate 'brown fat', the body's own fat-fighting defenses, which could be the key to tackling obesity and diabetes.

The caffeine contained in coffee has been shown to induce lipolysis, thermogenesis, insulin secretion, and fat oxidation in both non-obese and obese humans

Caffeine increases thermogenesis. In other words, it tells your body to burn more calories. This stimulating effect on metabolism has, in fact, been shown through research to occur in humans. In this study, caffeine increased thermogenesis in a dose-dependent manner up to 400 mg, or about 2-3 cups of coffee.

Caffeine is also included in most commercial fat-burning supplements today — and for good reason.

It’s one of the few substances known to help mobilize fats from your fat tissues and increase metabolism.

 > Caffeine targets BAT - Brown Adipose Tissue. Which is typically developed within Overweight/obese people. When consuming caffeine, it'll help remove the stubborn fat. So thus caffeine is beneficial for obese people.

"A recent study co-authored by Derrick Alperet, a research fellow in the Department of Nutrition at Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, found that drinking four cups of coffee daily—without cream and sugar—was associated with an approximately 4% reduction in body fat."

"Our study results and evidence from previous studies suggest that regular coffee intake may aid in weight loss and in achieving better overall health if it is incorporated into a healthful diet consisting of fruits, vegetables, fish and whole grains, but less of sugar and artificially sweetened beverages and processed and red meat,” he said in an April 23, 2020 Huffington Post article."

"Elizabeth Mostofsky, the instructor in the Department of Epidemiology, also noted in the article that caffeine can block brain receptors associated with pain, and can make other pain medications more effective."

By raising blood levels of epinephrine (adrenaline), caffeine promotes the release of fatty acids from fat tissue.

People may build up a tolerance to the effects of caffeine. For this reason, drinking coffee or other caffeinated beverages may be an ineffective weight-loss strategy in the long term.

Maximum fat oxidation

"The results of our study showed that acute caffeine ingestion 30 minutes before performing an aerobic exercise test increased maximum fat oxidation during exercise regardless of the time of day," explains Francisco J. Amaro. The existence of a diurnal variation in fat oxidation during exercise was confirmed, the values being higher in the afternoon than in the morning for equal hours of fasting."

"In summary, the findings of this study suggest that the combination of acute caffeine intake and aerobic exercise performed at moderate intensity in the afternoon provides the optimal scenario for people seeking to increase fat-burning during physical exercise."

Women Benefits Well with Caffeine Consumption for Fat Loss

"They found that women aged 20-44 who drank two or three cups of coffee per day had the lowest levels of adiposity, 3.4% lower than people who did not consume coffee. Among women aged between 45-69, those who drank four or more cups had an adiposity percentage 4.1% lower.

Overall, the average total body fat percentage was 2.8% lower among women of all ages who drank two or three cups of coffee per day."

In Conclusion;

Several cups of coffee or caffeine-related supplements can aid in weight loss during exercise and while staying sedentary. Both Men and Women, and Obese people can Benefit from Caffeine consumption when it comes to fat loss.
