I know the struggles of having parents who don't care nor have the knowledge when it comes to health or overall nutrition. The way I grew up, I was lucky I wasn't forced to eat them vegetables...Okay I lied, I was forced when I was a young boy, but as I grew up, that changed and they didn't force me to do anything, I made my own decisions. I did not grow up on healthy foods in my household, we ate like typical Americans. Processed foods, lunch meats, going too fast food places, and etc. It was convenient for us to do all of that because we have a big family, and it's easier to go about that path than making homemade meals that consisted of a variety of things such as vegetables, fats, proteins, and carbs. It's a bit more time-consuming to do that while trying to take care of a family. To add to that, my parents weren't very knowledgeable when it came to health, fitness nor nutrition. Sure, my dad workout, my mom did nursing and whatnot, but they didn't promote that into their own life[style]. They tried to eat healthy here and there I guess, but it's occasionally, not everyday which it should suppose to be. For me, it was hard to understand why I am becoming fat and unhealthy; it was the foods and my habits. I realized as I got older that nutrition is an important factor for everyone and then I began to change my habits.
I began to drink more water, because water and staying hydrated is very important and most of us are dehydrated, and it'll keep you full, so water is good. Secondly, I started to remove foods that are just plain bad for me. For example, I ate frozen burritos for breakfast lunch, and dinner, which isn't ideal because I was drinking sodas and eating chips along with that, which let's be honest, contains a lot of calories and processed junk which harms the body and makes you gain fat. So, I began to remove junk food from my life and replaced it with healthier options such as seeds, nuts, berries, fruits, and even vegetables. I noticed big changes once I have done that. Thirdly, I promoted this new life[style], I was being committed, everywhere I went, I stood on my 'diet' even though it's not a diet, it's a lifestyle change. Fourthly, I began to exercise to promote weight-loss, Started to prioritize my Nutrition timing; Trying to avoid overeating, and undereating. Timing nutrition isn't that all-important, but for those who want to pinpoint growth and other factors, timing nutrition sure does help.
People gain weight by these factors:
- Eating too much (calorie surplus)
- Consuming too much junk or processed foods
- Not caring about nutrition/neglecting nutrition
It's simple as that. If you overeat, that is known as a calorie surplus, meaning you're going to gain weight because you're in a surplus. A calorie deficit is what you want to be in when it comes to losing weight. Hence 'deficit' you're reducing your calorie intake to promote weight loss. Eating junk food or processed food is just as bad. They have no beneficial value for us, and it's loaded with junk ingredients which overall harms us and makes us fat. By eating healthier, like eating vegetables more often, you can avoid weight gain because vegetables contain nutrients that help nourish us. It helps detox the body, it contains fiber which helps with the gut, which in return helps with weight loss, it contains vital nutrients that'll make us healthy and strong, and so forth. Organic foods benefit us, junk food does not. Try to make homemade meals, it's much better to do that because you know what you're adding to your foods, you know how many calories it contains, and so forth. It's important to know what you're consuming, how many calories, and what it contains. For example, Diet Soda is just as bad as regular soda. Sure, the word 'Diet' sounds appealing for the majority, but for others who are knowledgeable, understand what is going on. It's all manipulation. Sugar is bad, soda is bad, overall it's addicting it makes us fat and unhealthy. This is why many people are overweight. Due to excessively consuming sodas and other junk food. Soda is one of the main issues for many people who are having issues losing weight (if you are consuming sodas) or don't know why they're gaining weight.
Here Are Some Ways To Lose Weight When You Have Nothing but Junk Food In Your House
- Limit your food intake. Separate the food throughout the day. So if you have a meal that consists of nothing but junk food, eat some of it, and have the rest for later. It'll help reduce the accumulation of fat.
- Drink more water before eating. This will help to make you get full(er) before you go eat to avoid overeating and stuff to that nature.
