Stop Eating Fast Foods! Avoid Heath Complications!

Reasons Why You Should Skip Fast Foods

A fast-food restaurant, also known as a quick-service restaurant within the industry, is a specific type of restaurant that serves fast food cuisine and has minimal table service.

Fast food isn't necessarily bad, but in many cases, it's highly processed and contains large amounts of carbohydrates, added sugar, unhealthy fats, and salt (sodium). These foods are often high in calories yet offer little or no nutritional value.

Common menu items at fast food outlets include fish and chips, sandwiches, pitas, hamburgers, fried chicken, french fries, onion rings, chicken nuggets, tacos, pizza, hot dogs, and ice cream, though many fast food restaurants offer "slower" foods like chili, mashed potatoes, and salads.

What's Wrong with Fast Foods

This is because most fast food is high in sugar, salt, saturated fat, and trans fats, processed ingredients, and calories, and low in antioxidants, fiber, and many other nutrients. Many fast-food meals are very low in fiber.

The people with the highest body mass indexes tended to be those who ate the most fast food. The nutrient content of fast food is very poor, putting people who eat a lot of fast food at higher risk for nutrient deficiencies.

Potential Implications

Increasing the amount of fast food you eat tends to increase the amount of calories, fat, carbohydrates and sodium you consume. These low-quality foods often take the place of more nutrient-dense foods like fruits and vegetables and whole grains, making it hard to meet the recommended intake for nutrients. The low zinc and low antioxidant intake associated with eating fast food could potentially increase inflammation and oxidative stress, according to a 2008 "The Journal of Pharmacy and Pharmacology" study. This in turn can increase your risk for health conditions including cancer and heart disease.

Opposed to going to a Fast food place, not knowing how many calories nor what ingredients are within the meals, it's not right and very unhealthy for us people. It's only convenient for those who want 'fast foods' but have no care for their own health. Sure, perhaps having a healthy meal from a fast food place is more ideal, however, you have way more options and it's more affordable when you do your own grocery shopping. Meal prep for instance can help you save loads of money and time on making meals throughout the days and week(s). You can meal prep up to a week or more if you know what you're doing. This can help you avoid situations like going to a fast food place to get food quickly.

Even if you're working out, and taking supplements to aid in your health; Fast foods in general and overall isn't healthy for anyone. Try to avoid it as much as possible, and continue working on a healthy lifestyle.
