Intermittent Fasting vs Calorie Deficit for Weight Loss

Intermittent Fast and Calorie Deficit can both promote Fat/Weight Loss with Ease. There are differences between the two and similarities, however, in this article, I'm going to be explaining both and which is more ideal for you.

Intermittent Fast is a set routine, it's not a 'diet' but a time management protocol. It helps people retain from overeating throughout the day and it'll encourage people to eat a bit healthier due to the goals and achievements they've set.

A calorie deficit is a phase where you are consuming fewer calories by the day. This will promote fat loss because your body isn't receiving enough calories like it use too, therefore, your body will begin to lose weight. As you progress with this calorie deficit, you have to increase the deficit and/or manipulate your macros to achieve a lower body weight or %. This is the key to losing weight - calorie deficit.

The similarities between the two:

The reason why people say to intermittent fast or to be in a calorie deficit because it somewhat is the same, to some, but for the most, it isn't the same. It's how you see it and how you define fasting or how you go about it. People fast because they want to stop eating as much throughout the day and thus will promote a calorie deficit, unless you're excessively eating, but being in a fasting phase doesn't mean you're in a calorie surplus, it means that you have less time and you've skipped couple meals throughout your day. Sometimes it's hard for people to get enough calories at the end of the day when they're fasting, so as a result, they'll end up in a calorie deficit and this will start making you lose weight. However, you can cram more calories when you're fasting, you just have to consume bigger meals.

What's more Ideal for Weight Loss | Fasting or Calorie Deficit

Let's say you have a bad habit of eating a lot throughout the day, then perhaps Fasting is ideal for you if you can stay within a calorie deficit. So, when you're fasting, you're essentially skipping meals, breakfast/lunch/dinner, and therefore, you're skipping on the calories. If you can manage this, you can easily lose weight because you're in a calorie deficit.

If you can manage your eating habits and stay strict on yourself, then being in a calorie deficit shouldn't be a hassle. It'll be difficult at first, but you'll get use to the feeling and routine. The key is when you're in a calorie deficit is to consume foods that are low on calorie but it has a big portion. So fulfilling foods with low calories. Also, you can set a goal on a app called myfitnesspal to help track your calories and macros.

    1. Thanks for sharing these awesome weight loss tips with us!

Speaking of losing weight, it can be done with zero exercise minutes per day. Weight loss comes down to energy balance, as long as you’re eating fewer calories than you are burning (you burn calories every second, regardless of what you’re doing), you will lose weight. Exercise is one way to manipulate this energy balance and increase the amount of calories burned.

So yes, it is certainly possible to exercise for 1 minute and lose weight.

1 minute of specific weight loss routines, is equivalent to 45 minutes of moderate exercise at the gym

  4. Naps are a good way to get some extra rest if you are tired, but too long of a nap will make sleeping at night harder. The best naps are under 20 minutes. Any longer than that may interfere with nighttime sleep.
